ITALY - *Passport required. Visa not required for tourist or business stays up to 90 days. (**90-day period begins when entering Schengen countries). Those staying for more than eight days, are required to register with local police and obtain a permit to stay (permesso di soggiorno). Tourists may request an application for the permit from one of 14,000 national post offices (Poste Italiane). The kit must then be returned to one of 5,332 designated Post Office acceptance locations. Failure to obtain the permit of stay within eight days is punishable by fine. Tourists will have to complete a form, provide a complete photocopy of their passport, present sufficient proof of their means of financial support, submit photographs, a photocopy of their insurance policy, photocopy proof of their return to the United States, and pay a fee. For stays longer than 90 days, employment, or study, a visa is required and must be obtained in advance. Americans who intend to reside in Italy must also, within 20 days of receiving a permesso di soggiorno (permit of stay), go to the local Vital Statistics Bureau, Anagrafe of the Comune, to apply for a certificate of residence (Certificato di Residenza). It generally takes one to two months to receive the certificate.

JORDAN - Passport and visa required. Entry visa to Jordan can be obtained upon arrival to Queen Alia Airport for $30, this apply for (American & Canadian Citizen), for any other nationality, it is the passenger’s responsibility to check with the Jordanian embassy for entry visa requirements. Also you may obtain a visa at the Jordan Embassy in Washington DC, or at any of the Consular Offices in the United States. Visas can also be obtained at other border crossings except at the King Hussein (Allenby) bridge and the ferryboat from Egypt; payment must be in local currency (you can change money at the bank next to the visa office in the Arrivals Hall). Visas are valid for two weeks, but can be extended at any police station. Travelers must make sure their passports are valid for at least 6 more months from the day of departure.
