Day:3 Mykonos Delos Tour
 
Day 1: Tuesday - Depart the USA
Depart the USA to Greece. Your flight includes meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment for your journey.
Day 2: Wednesday - Arrive in Athens, Transfer to Mykonos
Arrive in Athens and transfer to your flight to Mykonos. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.
Day 3: Thursday - Mykonos
Morning at leisure or you can choose our optional tour (Mykonos Delos Tour). Transfer from your hotel to the port. Sail from Mykonos to the island of Delos, which was once the religious center of the Aegean and Cyclades. According to myth, Latonna gave birth to Apollo, the Greek sun god, and Artemis, the huntress and goddess of marriage and fertility on the island. View the Sacred Harbor, and the regal Sacred Way, flanked by stone lions leading to the temples dedicated to Apollo and Artemis. Visit the museum housing archaeological artifacts found on the island and the tourist pavilion.

Afternoon, Situated between Tinos and Naxos, the island of Mykonos is one of the most picturesque of the Cyclades archipelago. The island has become one of the world’s top travel destinations because of its captivating, cosmopolitan atmosphere, ideal setting, and exciting nightlife. ( B )

Day 4: Friday - Embark Cruise
Enjoy a second full day day at leisure on Mykonos. Perhaps set out to explore the island, which offers narrow roads with whitewashed houses, signature windmills, beautiful beaches and a history dating back to early Ionian civilization. In the early evening transfer to the port to embark your cruise. Sail overnight to Kusadasi. ( B )
Day 5: Saturday - Morning in Kusadasi, Afternoon in Patmos
Enjoy breakfast on board and the morning at leisure in Kusadasi (Ephesus, Turkey) from 7:00 am to noon. Renowned for its beaches and attractive view of the Aegean, Kusadasi is near to several historical sites including Ephesus, the Temple of Artemis, and the House of the Virgin Mary. Then, continue sailing to spend the evening at leisure in Patmos (Greece) from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Sail overnight to Crete ( B, L, D )
Day 6: Sunday - Morning in Crete, Evening in Santorini
Arrive early this morning in Heraklion (Crete, Greece), one of the four prefectures that constitute the island of Crete. Enjoy a half day at leisure to explore the island on your own. At noon, cruise to Santorini, and enjoy an evening on Santorini Island (4:30 pm to 9:00 pm). Known for its breathtaking caldera, Santorini is also famous for its sandy beaches, colorful sunsets, and whitewashed buildings along the sea-cliffs. ( B, L, D )
Day 7: Monday - Disembark Cruise, Travel to Olympia
Disembark cruise in Piraeus at 7:00 am and depart Athens via the scenic coastal road to the Corinth Canal, where you will visit the amphitheater of Epidaurus, still used today. After envisioning Thespis singing the purest of dithyrambs, continue via Nauplion to Mycenae, the heartland of Greek mythology. Visit the archaeological site known as the "Treasury of Atreus," and the Tomb of Agamemnon, built around 1250 B.C. From here, drive the Central Peloponnese Peninsula, whose primary cities were Corinth and Sparta in classical times, through to the towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis. Continue to Olympia, birthplace of the first Olympic Games. ( B, D )
Day 8: Tuesday - Olympia Archaeological Site Tour
Visit the archaeological site of Olympia, including the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the ancient stadium, and the Archaeological Museum, where Greek works of art such as Nike of Paionios and terracotta statues date to 5th century B.C. Drive north through the plains of Eliad and Achaia, crossing the Corinth Strait via a cabled bridge from Rion to Antirion. Pass the towns of Nafpactos and Itea en route to the city of Delphi, home of the ruins of the Tholos Temple. ( B, D )
Day 9: Wednesday - Delphi Archaeological Site Tour, Travel to Kalambaka
In the morning, visit the excavated site and museum of Delphi, where you will find the sacred Omphalos, once kept in the Adyton of Apollo`s Temple, along with the Kourus Statues, Kleobis and Viton, and the 32 foot high Sphinx of Naxos, sitting on an Ionic column (circa 560 B.C.). Continue to the small town of Kalambaka, situated amidst smooth sandstone cliffs in the foothills of Meteora. ( B, D )
Day 10: Thursday - Meteora Sightseeing, Return to Athens
Visit Meteora, meaning "suspended in the air," with its mystical monasteries nestled perilously close to the edge of the bizarre rock formations. View exquisite specimens of Byzantine art, and then continue past Thermopylae, arriving in Athens in the early evening. ( B )
Day 11: Friday - Athens City Tour
Your morning tour of Athens includes visits to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Panathenian Stadium, the ruins of the Temple of Zeus and the Acropolis. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure in Athens. ( B )
Day 12: Saturday - Depart for the USA
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight. ( B )

  • April 27 departure: Archeological sites in Kusadasi and Patmos may not be open due to the Greek and Turkish Labor Day.
