Day 1: Tue - Depart USA
Depart the USA to Italy. Your flight includes meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment for your journey.
Day 2: Wed - Florence
Welcome to Florence. Transfer independently from the airport to your hotel, or choose a private car transfer. Enjoy the balance of the day at leisure.
Day 3: Thu - Florence, optional Morning City Tour
Full day at leisure or enjoy an optional afternoon tour of Florence. This morning, depart by coach for a short stop at Piazzale Michelangelo, one of the most ideal vantage points of Florence. Continue to visit the 16th century Accademia of Fine Arts (*) to admire Michelangelo`s David. Visit the Duomo (**), adorned with the marvelous red dome by Brunelleschi, before continuing to the Baptistery to view Ghiberti`s famous "Gates of Paradise," whose south door quatrefoils and seated Virtues feature scenes from the life of John the Baptist. (*) The Duomo is closed on Mondays, and will be replaced with the Opera Del Duomo and the Museum. (**) Likewise, the church cannot be visited on Sundays and National Holidays. Departs at 9:30 a.m. Pick up 15 minutes prior to departure time from Via Santa Caterina da Siena 17. Drop off at Via Santa Caterina da Siena 17. Tour does not operate on: Apr 25 (Liberation Day), May 1 (Labor Day), Jun 2 (National Day), Aug 15 (Feast of the Assumption). ( B )
Day 4: Fri - Rome, optional Illuminated Rome by Night with dinner
This morning, transfer independently to the rail station for your trip to Rome. Upon arrival in Rome, transfer independently to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. This evening, enjoy an optional illuminated tour of Rome by night, with dinner. Traveling for the famous Piazza Della Repubblica, enjoy flood-lit views of the Via Veneto, Palazzo Margherita, Porta Pinciana, Villa Borghese, Piazzale Flaminio, Via Flaminia, Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Augusto Imperatore, and Via del Corso. Arriving at the Piazza Della Repubblica, visit Trevi Fountain, the largest and most exquisite Baroque fountain in Rome. Continue to Piazza Venezia and enjoy charming views of the Capitol, Imperial Forum, Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Aventine Hill, and Circus Maximus. Compliment the tour with traditional Roman cuisine in a typical restaurant, accompanied by folk music ($97). ( B )
Day 5: Sat - Rome, optional Full Day Rome
Enjoy a full day at leisure in Rome, or choose an optional full day tour of ancient Rome and the Vatican Museums, lunch included. This morning, depart from the Piazza San Bernardo, adorned by Moses` Fountain, and travel to view the Fountains of Naiadi. Continue past Via Piemonte, the Aurelian Walls, Porta Pinciana, the Muro Torto, and the Villa Borghese on Pincian Hill. The tour continues to the Vatican Museums and Galleries, where you will find the Round Hall, the Hall of the Greek Cross, and the Tombs of St. Helen and St. Constance. From here, visit the Sistine Chapel and behold the great frescoes by Michelangelo. Proceed to the Galleries of the Chandeliers, Tapestries, Geographical Maps, and the Vatican Library Hall. By coach, continue across the square of the Capitol and admire the unique sight of the Forum, Colosseum, and Palatine Hill, one of the most ancient parts of Rome. Stop for a walk along the ancient pavement of the original Roman grid, which crosses the ruins of the Roman Forum, the Curia, and the Reggia. Enjoy views of the Temple of Vesta, the Arch of Titus, and the triumphal Arch of Constantine. Continue the tour to view the Circus Maximus, Aventine Hill, and the Pyramid of Caius Cestius, ending with a visit to the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls ($149). ( B )
Day 6: Sun - Rome, optional Naples & Pompeii with lunch from Rome
Full day at leisure in Rome, or enjoy an optional full day tour to Naples and Pompeii. Depart Rome in the early morning for a pleasant drive along the "Sun Route" motorway, crossing the scenic regions of Lazio and Campania along the way. Pass the famous Abbey of Montecassino en route to Naples where, upon arrival, you will enjoy a short tour of the city. Continue to Pompeii for lunch in a typical restaurant, followed by a short visit to a local coral and cameo factory. Afterwards, visit the excavated ruins of this best preserved Roman town, destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D. ($139). ( B )
Day 7: Mon - Departure
Transfer independently to the airport for your departure flight, or choose an optional transfer. Return to the USA. ( B )
