Day 1: Wednesday – Depart USA
Depart the USA to Italy. Your flight includes meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment for your journey.
Day 2: Thursday – Arrive Rome, Optional (#8 Illuminated Rome by Night 8:00 PM)
Welcome to Rome. Transfer independently from the airport to your hotel, or choose an optional arrival transfer. Balance of the day at leisure to explore Rome on your own or choose our optional (#8 Illuminated Rome by Night 8:00 PM) This evening, depart Piazza San Bernardo for an illuminated tour of Romes historic piazzas and fountains. Along the way to the famous Piazza della Repubblica, enjoy flood-lit views of the Palazzo Margherita, Porta Pinciana, Villa Borghese, Piazzale Flaminio, Via Flaminia, Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Augusto Imperatore, and Via del Corso. Arriving at the Piazza della Repubblica, visit Trevi Fountain, the largest and most exquisite Baroque fountain in Rome, before continuing along the Via Quattro Fontane to view the equally impressive, Fountains of the Four Seasons. From Piazza Venezia, enjoy charming views of the Memorial of King Vittorio Emanuele II and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. From this prime vantage point, admire the Capitol, Imperial Forum, Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Aventine Hill, Circus Maximus, and the Great Synagogue, overlooking the former Jewish ghetto. Conclude this fascinating tour of the Eternal City by night with views of the Castel SantAngelo and St. Peters Basilica on your return.

Departs at 8:00 p.m. from Via V. E. Orlando, 95. Pick-up from hotel 45 minutes prior to departure time. Drop-off at hotel if in the city center, or near a taxi stand if your hotel is located outside the city center.

Day 3: Friday – Rome, Optional (#M4 Rome Walking Tour with Cooking Lesson 10:30 AM)
After breakfast, free day at your lesiure or you may choose our optional tour (#M4 Rome Walking Tour with Cooking Lesson 10:30 AM) Experience the culinary treasures of Rome with this half day tour. Begin by walking through the Piazza Navona square as you learn about the history and culture of Roman society. Walk by the famous Pantheon and Trevi Fountain, and finish with a cooking lesson with a local Italian chef. Enjoy the fruits of your labor afterward as you get to enjoy the meal that you have learned to prepare. ( B )
Day 4: Saturday – Rome, Optional (#3 & 4 Rome with lunch)
After breakfast, free day at your lesiure or you may choose our optional tour (#3 & 4 Rome with lunch) This morning, depart from the Piazza San Bernardo, site of Moses Fountain, and travel along Via Bissolati and Via Veneto. Pass by Villa Borghese, one of Europes most elegant parks, and previous estate of the noble Borghese family. The tour continues to the Vatican Museum and Galleries, where you will find galleries of chandeliers, tapestries, geographical maps, the Sobiesky Hall and the Immaculate Conception Hall. From here, visit the Sistine Chapel and behold the great frescoes by Michelangelo. Passing through the Vatican Hall continue to the Basilica of Saint Peter, one of the four major basilicas of Rome, and burial site of its namesake Saint Peter. Continue along the Via Nazionale to the Basilica of St. John in Lateran. Dedicated to John the Baptist and John the Evangelist, the Basilica is ranked first among the four major basilicas of Rome and is famous for its baroque and medieval masterpieces. Proceed to the Holy Stairs, the 28 marble steps climbed by Jesus Christ to stand trial in Pilates Palace. From this ancient pilgrimage site, the tour continues by coach, crossing the Piazza San Giovanni and Via Latina, to the Appian Way, where you will find the sacred Chapel of "Domine Quo Vadis". Then, visit the Catacombs of St. Sebastian before walking along the Appian Way to the Mausoleum of Cecilia Metellea, built around 50 B.C. Return in the early evening, passing the ruins of the Baths of Caracalla en route.

Please note that on Wednesdays during the Holy Fathers Audience, the visit inside St. Peters Basilica will not take place. Departs at 7:30 a.m. (Apr - Oct) and 8:30 a.m. (Nov - Mar) from Via V. E. Orlando, 95. Pick-up from hotel 45 minutes prior to departure time (between 6:30 a.m. and 7:15 a.m for Apr - Oct and between 7:30 a.m. and 8:15 a.m for Nov - Mar). Drop-off in city center. Please note that conservative clothing should be worn when visiting the Vatican, meaning legs and shoulders should be covered ( B )

Day 5: Sunday – Rome, Optional #1 & 2 Rome with lunch 8:30 AM
After breakfast, free day at your lesiure or you may choose our optional tour (#1 & 2 Rome with lunch 8:30 AM) This morning, depart Piazza San Bernardo, site of Moses Fountain, and continue to the Piazza della Repubblica. The walking tour is designed to take you through the ages of Rome, starting from St. Peters Basilica. Proceed to the famous Piazza Navona, erected over the ruins of Domitians Circus, before heading to the best preserved of all ancient Roman buildings, the Pantheon, whose original dome is the largest surviving from antiquity in the world. Stop and admire the Trevi Fountain, the largest and most exquisite baroque fountain in Rome. Continue to the square of the Capitol, and admire the unique sight of the Forum, Colosseum and Palatine Hill, one of Romes most ancient districts. Walk along the pavement of the original Roman grid, which crosses the ruins of the Roman Forum, the Curia, and the Reggia. Enjoy views of the Temple of Vesta, the Arch of Titus and the Triumphal Arch of Constantine. Continue with an inside tour of the Colosseum, a giant amphitheater used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles, and the largest building ever built in the Roman Empire. The tour concludes with a visit to the church of St. Peter in Chains, where Michelangelos famous statue of Moses is housed.

Departs at 8:30 a.m. from Via V. E. Orlando, 95. Pick-up from hotel 60 minutes prior to departure time. Drop-off in city center. ( B )

Day 6: Monday – Rome, Optional #M3 Underground Rome Walking Tour 3:00 PM
After breakfast, free day at your lesiure or you may choose our optional tour (#M3 Underground Rome Walking Tour 3:00 PM) Discover the hidden crypts, churches, and prisons of Rome with this underground walking tour through Trastevere. As your guide leads you through ancient streets, admire the many objects and architectural ruins that give us a better perspective of how life was lived by earlier inhabitants of the city. ( B )
Day 7: Tuesday - Rome
After breakfast, free day at your lesiure. ( B )
Day 8: Wednesday - Departure
Transfer independently to the airport for your departure flight, or choose a private car transfer. Return to the USA. ( B )
