Day 1: Thursday - Depart USA
Depart the USA to Italy For Florence and Rome tour. Your flight includes meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment for your journey
Day 2: Friday - Arrive Florence
Welcome to Florence. Transfer independently from the airport to your hotel. ( B )
Day 3: Saturday - Florence, Optional Tour
Afternoon, begin your Italy train travel with a free day at your leisure or you may choose our OPTIONAL tour (Florence Afternoon City Tour 2:30 PM) Begin the afternoon with a short visit to the small town of Fiesole in the scenic hills above Florence. Next, enjoy a walking tour of the city center in Florence and have the opportunity to view sights such as the Palazzo Vecchio and Piazza Signoria. Afterwards, enjoy a visit to the famous Uffizi Gallery to admire original works of art by Leonardo, Giotto, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Raffaello, and many, many others. Departs at 2:30 p.m. Pick-up 15 minutes prior to departure time from Via Santa Caterina da Siena, 15/17, Platform 9. Drop-off in city center ( B )
Day 4: Sunday - Florence, Rome, Optional Tour
Check out from your hotel in Florence, transfer independently to Florence Rail Station to your Italy train travel to Rome to continue your Florence and Rome tour. arrival and transfer independently to your hotel. Rest of the day is free at leisure, or you may choose our OPTIONAL tour (Illuminated Rome by Night) depart Piazza San Bernardo for an illuminated tour of Rome historic piazzas and fountains. Along the way to the famous Piazza della Repubblica, enjoy flood-lit views of the Palazzo Margherita, Porta Pinciana, Villa Borghese, Piazzale Flaminio, Via Flaminia, Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Augusto Imperatore, and Via del Corso. Arriving at the Piazza della Repubblica, visit Trevi Fountain, the largest and most exquisite Baroque fountain in Rome, before continuing along the Via Quattro Fontane to view the equally impressive, Fountains of the Four Seasons. From Piazza Venezia, enjoy charming views of the Memorial of King Vittorio Emanuele II and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. From this prime vantage point, admire the Capitol, Imperial Forum, Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Aventine Hill, Circus Maximus, and the Great Synagogue, overlooking the former Jewish ghetto. Conclude this fascinating tour of the Eternal City by night with views of the Castel Sant Angelo and St. Peter Basilica on your return. Departs at 8:00 p.m. from Via V. E. Orlando, 95. Pick-up from hotel 45 minutes prior to departure time. Drop-off at hotel if in the city center, or near a taxi stand if your hotel is located outside the city center. ( B )
Day 5: Monday - Rome, Optional Tour
Morning is free at leisure, or you may choose our OPTIONAL tour (#3 & 2 Rome with lunch 8:30 AM) depart from the Piazza San Bernardo, site of Moses Fountain, and travel along Via Bissolati and Via Veneto. Pass by Villa Borghese, one of Europes most elegant parks, and previous estate of the noble Borghese family. The tour continues to the Vatican Museum and Galleries, where you will find galleries of chandeliers, tapestries, geographical maps, the Sobiesky Hall and the Immaculate Conception Hall. From here, visit the Sistine Chapel and behold the great frescoes by Michelangelo. Passing through the Vatican Hall continue to the Basilica of Saint Peter, one of the four major basilicas of Rome, and burial site of its namesake Saint Peter. Continue to the square of the Capitol and admire the unique sight of the Forum, Colosseum and Palatine Hill, one of Romes most ancient districts. Walk along the pavement of the original Roman grid, which crosses the ruins of the Roman Forum, the Curia, and the Reggia. Enjoy views of the Temple of Vesta, the Arch of Titus and the Triumphal Arch of Constantine. Continue with an inside tour of the Colosseum, a giant amphitheater used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles, and the largest building ever constructed in the Roman Empire. The tour concludes with a visit to the church of St. Peter in Chains, where Michelangelos famous statue of Moses is housed. Please note that on Wednesdays during the Holy Fathers Audience, the visit inside St. Peters Basilica will not take place. Departs at 7:30 a.m. (Apr - Oct) and 8:30 a.m. (Nov - Mar) from Via V. E. Orlando, 95. Pick-up from hotel 1 hour prior to departure time (between 6:30 a.m. and 7:15 a.m for Apr - Oct and between 7:30 a.m. and 8:15 a.m for Nov - Mar). Drop-off in city center. Please note that conservative clothing should be worn when visiting the Vatican, meaning legs and shoulders should be covered. ( B )
Day 6: Tuesday - Rome, Optional Tour
Your last day of Italy Train Travel, free day at leisure or you can choose our OPTIONAL tour (#13 Naples & Pompeii with lunch from Rome 7:15 AM) Depart Rome in the early morning for a pleasant drive along the "Sun Route" motorway, taking you through the scenic regions of Lazio and Campania. Pass the famous Abbey of Montecassino en route to Naples where you will enjoy a short panoramic tour of the city. Continue toward Pompeii for lunch in a typical restaurant, followed by a short visit to a nearby coral and cameo factory. Afterward, visit the excavated ruins of this incredibly well preserved Roman town, destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Departs 7:15am Apr - Oct, 7:30am Nov - Mar from Via V. E. Orlando, 95. Pick-up from hotel 45 minutes prior to departure. Drop-off in city center ( B )
Day 7: Wednesday - Departure
After breakfast, check out from your hotel, optional transfer to Rome airport will be available up on request. ( B )
