From Piazza Venezia, enjoy charming views of the Memorial of King Vittorio Emanuele II and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Free day at leisure or you can choose our optional tour (#3 & 4 Rome with lunch) This morning, depart from the Piazza San Bernardo, site of Moses Fountain, and travel along Via Bissolati and Via Veneto. Pass by Villa Borghese, one of Europes most elegant parks, and previous estate of the noble Borghese family. The tour continues to the Vatican Museum and Galleries, where you will find galleries of chandeliers, tapestries, geographical maps, the Sobiesky Hall and the Immaculate Conception Hall. From here, visit the Sistine Chapel and behold the great frescoes by Michelangelo. Passing through the Vatican Hall continue to the Basilica of Saint Peter, one of the four major basilicas of Rome, and burial site of its namesake Saint Peter. Continue along the Via Nazionale to the Basilica of St. John in Lateran. Dedicated to John the Baptist and John the Evangelist, the Basilica is ranked first among the four major basilicas of Rome and is famous for its baroque and medieval masterpieces. Proceed to the Holy Stairs, the 28 marble steps climbed by Jesus Christ to stand trial in Pilates Palace. rom this ancient pilgrimage site, the tour continues by coach, crossing the Piazza San Giovanni and Via Latina, to the Appian Way, where you will find the sacred Chapel of "Domine Quo Vadis". Then, visit the Catacombs of St. Sebastian before walking along the Appian Way to the Mausoleum of Cecilia Metellea, built around 50 B.C. Return in the early evening, passing the ruins of the Baths of Caracalla en route.

Built by early noble families, the fourteen remaining stone towers that line the ramparts of the town create one of the areas most beautiful skylines. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the towns narrow lanes and squares. Relax on a scenic ride through the Italian countryside to Siena, admiring the ever-changing scenery of vineyards and scarped olive groves en route. Upon arrival, enjoy a walking tour with a local guide to view the Cathedral, the unique fan-shaped Piazza del Campo, and the Palazzo Comunale. This mornings tour begins with an orientation of St. Marks Square, considered the historical heart of the city, and continues to visit the Golden Basilica of San Marco* with its mysterious interior, lavish mosaics, and decorations of Occidental and Oriental design. Proceed to the 14th century Doges Palace, whose facade comprises a massive Gothic gate on the Piazzetta side, known as the Porta Della Carta. Continue to the rear of the palace to view the Bridge of Sighs. The tour ends with an optional visit to a glass blowing factory on Murano Island.
For security reasons, bags are not allowed inside the Basilica. A free-of-charge holding station is available. Due to Mass, San Marco Basilica is closed for visitations on Sundays, and during any religious ceremonies and holy feast days. In this case, visits will exclude interior views of the church. Likewise, Doges Palace is closed on Dec 25, Jan 1, and May 1. Departs daily at 9:10 a.m. from the Tourist Information Office in St. Marks Square, at 71/F Piazza San Marco in front of the Correr Museum. Drop-off at Tourist Information Office in St. Marks Square.
